In 2019/2020 native plant restoration will occur in the "Heritage Park" featuring historic buildings from the region. This is an ongoing restoration project at this time.

Experience the new Mead Cultural Education Center, the new home of the Yankton County Historical Society and the Dakota Territorial Museum! Opening with the first two premiere exhibits in 2018, the a permanent exhibit will focus on the Corps of Discovery expedition from start to finish, with particular focus on the section in the Dakota Territory. There is also a fully interactive children’s section of the museum which focuses on travel throughout Dakota Territory, beginning with historic boating operations and continuing through to modern travel including air travel.

With a number of events to attend and much to see, we hope you visit the Mead Cultural Education Center!
